In Place with Suzanne is a podcast of conversations recorded in specific locations, grounding each story in the place where it is told - regardless of where the life itself unfolded.

About

Hi, I'm Suzanne!

The grandchild of Irish immigrants, raised in a military family where home was something you carried with you. My Irish father kept the tradition of storytelling alive, filling our home with myths and legends of Ireland—leprechauns, fairies, and the banshee most of all. Those stories shaped how I see the world and taught me that stories are how we remember, how we connect, and how we pass meaning from one generation to the next.

I’m a retired teacher with a lifelong love of history, especially the characters who bring it to life. I raised my two sons on the same stories I grew up with, and I look forward to sharing them with my grandchildren, hoping they too will become storytellers.

I’ve always been drawn to people and to the places where they feel most loved and most at ease. I believe stories are best told when someone feels comfortable enough to be themselves. Through In Place, I bring together my love of history, storytelling, and place—creating conversations that are grounded, human, and alive in the moment they’re shared.

My Podcast

Lessons of Life: Things
I've Learned, Moments I Cherish.

I’ve learned the quiet power of listening—really listening—because everyone has a story, and we rarely know what one another is carrying beneath the surface. Our past experiences shape who we are, how we move through the world, and how we show up for others. I’ve learned not to make assumptions, but to meet people with curiosity and grace. The moments I cherish most are filled with laughter shared with family and friends, a great sense of humor that lightens even heavy days, and the comfort of familiar voices. I cherish a good story—whether told aloud or found in a book—beautifully prepared food, a great glass of wine, and time spent with old friends, where history needs no explanation and connection feels effortless.
